For over six decades, Prasad Corporation has been a cornerstone of India’s film and media industry. From classic celluloid to today’s digital blockbusters, we have supported filmmakers across every stage of their creative journey — production, post-production, and everything in between. Our work spans feature films, commercials, and documentaries, but one area especially close to our heart is digital film restoration — breathing new life into cinematic treasures and preserving them for future generations.
The Challenge of Modern Restoration
Restoration is among the most technically demanding areas of post-production. Every frame must be digitized, processed, cleaned, color corrected, and delivered in the highest quality formats. With 4K and 8K uncompressed workflows now becoming the norm, the data load is staggering. Handling multiple reels, across multiple projects, requires a storage backbone that can deliver speed, reliability, and scalability — all without interrupting creative work.
Our restoration team alone operates with over 150 high-performance workstations, all simultaneously processing data-intensive tasks. This scale of operation leaves no room for compromise in storage performance.
For years, we searched for a solution that could keep up with these requirements. The market had many options, but none fully addressed our need for throughput, caching efficiency, and seamless integration with our growing archive and nearline systems.
Enter DDP: A Storage Solution That Works as Hard as We Do
After an extensive evaluation process, and with guidance from our trusted technology partner Cinthamani Computers, we turned to DDP storage solutions. Their recommendation — the DDP10EF combined with the DDP24EX expansion array — proved to be the right fit for our demanding workflows.
What set DDP apart was its A/V FS file system with SSD caching and NVMe storage, designed from the ground up for media workflows. The result was immediately clear: Capable of delivering up to 40GB/s throughput, projects that previously strained our infrastructure could now be handled smoothly, with no bottlenecks in playback, rendering, or delivery.
Performance Meets Scalability
Our configuration now includes 320TB of fast-access storage, fully integrated with our nearline system that exceeds 1PB in capacity. This architecture allows us to scale effortlessly, ensuring that even as client demands grow and formats evolve, our infrastructure stays ahead of the curve.
More importantly, DDP has given our creative teams the freedom to focus on artistry rather than system constraints. Whether restoring a decades-old film negative or mastering a modern HDR feature, we can rely on consistent performance every time. Given its proven reliability in our restoration division, we are already planning to expand DDP systems across our other departments — including digitization — to standardize high-speed, collaborative storage throughout the organization.
A Solution Trusted Beyond Our Walls
The success of DDP in our facility has extended beyond. When the National Film Archive of India (NFAI) sought a high-performance storage platform for their own preservation and restoration workflows, we recommended DDP — and today, they too benefit from its file-based SSD caching technology.
Preserving the Past, Powering the Future
At Prasad Corporation, our mission is to preserve cinema’s legacy while enabling the storytellers of tomorrow. The DDP10EF and DDP24EX have become critical partners in that mission, giving us the confidence that our storage infrastructure can match the creativity and ambition of the projects we handle.
With DDP, we don’t just store data — we safeguard stories, and we do so at the speed, reliability, and scale that modern filmmaking demands.
